Young V&A

This is a project we undertook at the Young V&A, Bethnal Green, London. For this project, we clad the existing central steel support for the spiral staircase located in the main hall. Our brief was to fill the voids of the structure and clad the structure with sheet metal, leaving it flush with the existing steel frame. At the start of the project, we undertook a detailed laser survey to gather the dimensions of the frame. We then produced precision drawings to laser cut bespoke panels to fit the structure. The lower part was clad with mild steel panels that have been finished in white, and the top panels have been cut to create a reflective sphere from super-mirror stainless steel.
